The Blue Flames of the Volcano

When we reached the top of the volcano, I looked into the crater and I saw smoke. There was no blue fire. We missed it completely because the sun had already come up so it was too late. The people were walking very slowly carrying baskets on their backs filled with big yellow rocks. They weren't wearing masks or any other sort of protective equipment. Alor didn't even cry in front of me when three years before that day I'd left her in Italy to go to Australia which is why I still think she's a horrible woman but now I understand why she doesn't want to go to Auschwitz with me.
