Cage hitchhiked from Santa Monica to LA, where Boolig lived. He tried to get him to come and visit his class and play some of Schoenberg's pieces for them. Cage was so eager to hear it that he'd found Boolig's phone number in the first place. The 21-year-old spent 12 hours in his garden pulling the leaves off his trees.
