The Challenge of Creating a Good Type Hierarchy

The real challenge is like, how do you imbue a sense of good taste when it comes to crafting a correct type hierarchy? This becomes increasingly hard when you're working with components that have maybe one piece of primary text and lots of meta text. I actually kind of admire Twitter's type hierarchy where most of the time they use one type size and they only fluctuate weights and colors - which is a nice system.
