In the early 20th century, there's lots of these attempts to consolidate railroads into much bigger systems. A lot of them fail miserably. Once the railroad started like the entire 50 hour con rail saga. Like N and W and like the chess system were just fueled by like piles of sub-bituminous coal that they're breaking billions of dollars on. Just buying a pass like loading and bankruptcy.
