The Center of Language

The idea that language emerged like one word at a time is kind of strange. So it's in that way that this idea of the center is not nearly as neat as perhaps once assumed. And that the center, if we assume it in a discursive way, can only be defined by its relationship to other things. We know that the word DoG corresponds to dog, the animal that we all know and love but we don't know that from birth.
