The Protest Against the Nixon Veto
In 1977 President Nixon signed a law banning discrimination against disabled people. The first demonstrations were held in New York City and Washington, D.C. They shut down traffic on Madison Avenue; they took over Nixon headquarters for hours. In the U.S., protests came as a result of Rosa Park being unwilling to sit back of the bus with black passengers.
