Shelby: It's imperative that we take a look at what the costs might be of embracing notions of racial difference. "I'm not interested in obliterating the black church," he says, but it is important to push back against people who insist on framing things with respect to race. Shelby: We can't even talk about student loans without invoking race and talking about it because it's a powerful tool.
