The Unchangeability of Character
We can cultivate the seeds of anger, pity, vanity or excessive brooding and make these things fecund and productive. This is aphorism number five 60. The self is a competing multiplicity in its inconstant flux, constant state of growth and development. And that means individual identity is changeable. It's an illusion created by logic, by the consciousness, by our desire to think of ourselves as consistent, coherent, predictable beings.
