Pluto - The Planet of Overblown Hype

Pluto became the planet of overblown hype. Nuclear power was going to revolutionize the world or kill us all, take your pick. Psychoanalysis was supposed to be the revolutionary thing that would completely reshape society. Space travel is another great plutonium thing. Nobody realized at the time that deep space is saturated with hard radiation. That's why we shut down our moon program in the early 1970s. Russia decided to shut down theirs before they even really had one. And so all of these plutonium things rose, looked like the wave of the future, crested, turned it overblown hype and unfulfilled promises... They haven't quite finished failing yet.
