If you've worn a dress and you're trying to sprint, that's a hard thing to do. So what does it mean to gird up your loins? If the shoes are on their feet, compare that to jesus taking the sandals off his apostles so he can wash their feet. By the way, loins girded about with truth, feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace. This sounds a lot like the armor of god.
