The Story of John Winthrop Junior and the Massachusetts Bay Colony
In 16 35, he obtained a patent authorizing him to colonize the mouth of the connecticut river. The colony granted an island called fisher's island on the coast of the long island sound as a sort of personal fiefdom for john winthrop junior in 16 forty. Also around the same time, an anti nomian controversy broke out in boston where certain leaders pushed the boundaries of what the puritan ministry considered acceptable doctrine. They are, in a sense, incapable of sin and above the biblical law.
