The Mystery of Mercy and Justice in the University
Rabbinic readers cite the lemma, the verse from Genesis, the Lord God made heaven and earth. Then they ask the question, why is the subject of the sentence both Lord and God? And then like Jesus, they turn to a parable to answer the question they posed. This may be compared to a king who had some fine glassware. Said the king, if I pour hot water into them, they will burst. If cold they'll contract and snap. What did the king do?
