The Future of Gravitational Wave Observations
Even with this new run, LIGO is limited to the kinds of objects that it can perceive. To really take things to the next level, we're gonna need an entirely next generation of gravitational wave observatories. The Einstein telescope would be a triangle where you've got three stations that are 10 kilometers apart. And then there's Lisa, the laser interferometer space antenna,. They form a triangle that is tens of thousands of kilometers long and measure as giant gravitational waves go past them.
