The Self-Organized Critical Behaviour of Forest Fires
We looked at the distribution of big, medium and small forest fires. And what we found was an underlining distribution that was quite different than what was in common literature. It was rejected from three papers before it was published in science. This idea of not thinking of natural hazards as single hazards but rather as groups of natural hazards occur over time and in space is a nice way to characterise fires.
