Willy milly: The rights of men are indeed sacred things, and if any public measure is proven mischievously to affect them, the objection ought to be fatal. If these natural rights are further affirmed and declared by express covenants, they are in a still better condition of that word, positive engagement. These metaphysic rights entering into common life, like rays of light which pierce into a dense medium, are, by the laws of nature, refracted from their straight line.
