When i was at university, i looked for subjects that mentioned terms like critical thinking in their promotional material. And i can tell you that, 20 years ago or so, it was indeed rather rare. Another reason is that later, when i found myself involved in teaching, i noticed that what i thought i'd eventually learned about critical thinking, never appeared in the standard curriculum. So personally, i have a little bit of history with this. Now, there's also this bizarre thing that really is just an issue recently in the united states, as far as i can tell, which is confusingly called critical race theory.
