Debt Trap Diplomacy Spreads Like Wildfire
In October of 2018, Mike Pence in a speech at the Hudson Institute said that China uses so called debt diplomacy to expand its influence. And it was widely cited by a bunch of media publications and then like a lot of politicians also picked up the idea. But there have been people who have done a really good job debunking it. The purpose of these kinds of stories is not whether they're true or not. The purpose is the circulation itself to repeat it over and over and over again until people take it as truth.
