Shelley's wealth may have bent him in the other direction toward an anti-establishment position. Maybe due to guilt, he seems to have been frustrated by the world. If you don't believe in God, do you pretend that you do just to make things easier? Shelley didn't, which did not please his family. And then he fell in love with his cousin Harriet and his family was upset about that too.
