In the psychoanalytic tradition, young boys suppress their desires and then impart them upon another woman. This is called sublimation. And we see this dynamic replicated from the family to the rest of society. So for example, if you a have this desire to murder your father to sleep with your mother, you might just transfer that into a desire for other women. But there's still going to be a rage that you have to deal with. It may be released by joining the military, or playing sports, or video games,. whatever some one does. I i have a lot of trouble believing psychoanalysis in almost any way, shape and form but this is kind of how the story
