The Righteousness of God Is Multivalent
Lutherans and other Armenian types would say that Christ's death can be sufficient to cover everyone's sins. He died for everyone but there needs to be some appropriation of that atoning death. Otherwise, it would be inexplicable why they're not redeemed. It's like a righteousness of God is his attribute and the appropriation to the believer is through faith. If faith is the excess in process to get the righteousness does that make sense?
