Descartes's Cogito Ergo Sum

Descartes came to the famous insight cogito ergo. He imagined the possibility of a deceiving demon or evil genius who might be merely planting the idea in descartes's head that there is an external world. Descartes says that this is proof that no such deception could possibly be going on. Rather, to descartes, it is logically necessary that any being in the category of god must be a loving god and would not deceive us.
