The master and his emissary is from this fable that I say I found in Nietzsche. The trouble is that the emissary in the story being sort of bright, but not terribly bright, thinks it knows everything and doesn't know how much it doesn't know. We need to leave things alone if we want them to repay us with an imaginative answer. But yes, the idea that a noisy person that's going to drown out the more thoughtful person is a good place to start.
