The two accounts we have are based on oral history, and it could be that some of the details have been misreported. The children would have indeed been correct in reporting that they from a christian area where saint martin was specially venerated. But as we'll see, we can certainly explain most of these details. Then let's start with saint martin's land. Where was that? Most likely it was the town of fornam, just eight miles away. Fornam is even smaller than woolpit, with only 13 hundred inhabitants to day - though i don't know how many people live there in the 11 hundreds. And guess what?
