There seems to be a split even within the question of how modernist art relates to mexico's recent pascers. Like diegorivera is probably, we know, one of the two or three best known mexican artists of the twentieth century. But there's a poet named manuel micels arte who essentially rejects that view and says, no, mexican art and mexican literature has got to be about the future. We shouldn't be looking back wards. What's the nature of that sudden modernist debate between these two figures?
