Barwell earned a decent salary for the time of 10,400 a year. As part of his job he managed to spend three nights a week sleeping at the hotel. The official line from the prison service is that Barwell had done absolutely nothing wrong,. His lifestyle was all approved, as it played a major role in helping him to resettle into mainstream society.
