The Critical Cataloging Movement Addresses the Problem of Bias in Library Cataloging
The critical cataloging movement, oh my God, there's a movement, has addressed the problem of bias. This project, she says, has meaningfully pointed out the trouble with classification and cataloging decisions that are framed as objective and neutral. So when they say something is socially constructed, I remind you, they mean that it is politically constructed by the hegemonic powers that bethat they are excluded from. The social demiurge has organized society to exclude people like them who could grab and seize the means of production for their own benefit.
