How to Prevent Debris Debridation Debrisions
The idea was to use a ground base lazer hooked up to moderate sized telescope. And you can put enough light energy on a piece of debris that is equivalent to about what it would see in the sun. You only impart a few millimeters per second of delta v with each of these engagements, but it turns a few millimeter per second over the course of a few hours or days amounts to a lot of distance and so you can actually avoid collisions this way.
