The Three Types of Trust
Trust is a product of personal contact, but it can also be attributed to someone by virtue of the role that person fulfills. System trust refers to confidence one has in the rules and mechanisms that dictate the behavior of your counterparty. Role trust refers to the confidence we have that people who occupy a certain role have the skills or resources to perform it adequately. Interpersonal trust requires some familiarity with the counterparty. It's related to the others intentions to their customer orientation. So interpersonal trust can survive, you know, even when role trust and system trust have been compromised.
