The Dao De Jing
Dao is a word that has a very long history in the Chinese and long proceeds Lao Tzu and Daoism itself. In ancient China then there were many different Dao's, Confucianism was one kind of Dao and the school of Motsu which was another philosopher, it was another Dao. So Dao was used to denote a certain path or way to truth or the right way to structure society or the cosmos. But sometimes during the so called warring states period in the last few centuries BCE there appeared some philosophers and writers who would turn the concept on its head completely.
