Copper and selenium are two of the most harmful heavy metals. Copper can have sub lethal effects on fish, especially juvenile and young salmon. Selenium has been documented as leading to fish deformities. acid mine drainage is an incredible problem for water quality, for fish. Once you get that amount of acid drainage into the river systems it's very difficult to stop and clean up.
