Melanopsin isn't sensitive to the whole range of colors. It's specifically sensitive to blue light between like 420 430 up until about 500, a little bit more nanometers. The peak sensitivities around 479 nanometers is pretty much almost what our screens and all the lights emit. We're just using it because now we're conditioned to use it, even though we don't even need it. That's why artificial lights have been made in our phone screens to be addictive as they stimulate pathways of waking up and energy.
