QAnon is essentially an evolution of variant of Petergate, which sort of grew out of the alt-right. I started writing the book thinking it was a metaphor, and I finished thinking it was literal. People prefer to think of conspiracy theories as something that happened to other people,. They're actually, if anything, more likely to hit clever people because clever people like to research and look into stuff for themselves.
