Health Care in the 19th Century

In the 19 twenties, doctors were becoming more professionalized. The hospitals confronted a financial problem when many of their patients couldn't pay when bills were due. So they established a programme to get people to prepay for their hospital care. And that was the beginning of blue cross and the beginning of inturest private medical insurance.
