The Second Temple Period - Is God Dead?
Babylonian conquest occurred on nebuchadnezzar the second and sacks jerusalem, desecrates the temple in the sixth century b c. It's not just a political disaster though it's also a crisis of faith. Because if this is where god lives and then the temple falls, is god dead? Has he abandoned us? What i mean this is a radical change in what the jews have to be able to think about their faith. In some sense, there then ensues a centuries long wrestling with this that includes the prophets, but also religious leaders like the essenes and the pharisees and the sadducees.
