Basil Porphirientus - The Byzantine Emperor
Basil was the eldest son of the byzantine emperor, and is named basil porphirientus. His father was romanus, the second an emperor whose reputation was not good in that he is alleged to have behaved irresponsibly. Romanus became ill and died in his twenties, which was a problem for basil who was still just five years old. He spent his childhood observing military leaders rule his nation, and would undoubtedly learn from them. This would give young basil a solid foundation of knowledge for when he would come of age and wish to rule the empire for himself.
