When a single sector is hated, it has links and threads that connect it with other parts of the economy. For instance, if the real estate sector goes kaplunk, a lot of banks have significant exposure to that sector. It's just going to be worth a lot less in that sort of environment. So there'll be a direct impact that will ripple and flow through the economy.
