The Fall From Grace of Higher Education
In the 1950s and 60s, we have what was actually called at that time the rise of the military industrial academic complex. And post World War II, when we look at especially people of color and their histories, higher ed was democratic for white Americans to a certain degree. But it was exclusionary on racial and racial and gender lines. A lot of the wealth was extracted from black and brown and indigenous folk to make this so-called democratic higher education possible.
