Tubby was like one of the Damon Runyon characters that you heard about in New York at the time. Like my mother, he took everybody under his wing and he helped a lot of people. Tubby got to know all these sports figures because of all the Italian big-time friends that he had. Who I'm sure were not as straight and narrow as they could have been but they always treated him.
