The most valuable thing that you can do to protect yourself online with credit is you can freeze your credit report so that people cannot go out there and just apply for loans in your name. If you haven't had your information stolen, I think these email alerts are fine that you don't have to pay for credit monitoring as well. But if you know that you're not going to monitor your credit, then you need to make sure that you pay for this instead. And we'll talk about how to do that in a second here.
