The Role of Radiation in CT Scanning

CT works on assessing the density of tissue by passing radiation through it. If you're a smaller person versus a larger person, well, the larger person is going to need a higher amount of radiation to get reasonable pictures. But in general, it's factors of 10 and sometimes greater factors than that, 100 higher than x-rays. And that's taking into account modern CT equipment, which has had all of the same kind of advances in bringing down radiation dose dramatically.
