Is There a Second Purpose in the Movie?

I think halfway through, you become very attached to Lawrence Fishburne's character. And like I get what he's going for and it makes sense. But it bothers me that it happens so late in the movie. We spend so much of the movie having where we are being kind of anchor, right? Because we spend the most time with him up front. He did also wake up from a dream where he's, it's a foreshadowing dream. His eyes suck. It's just so silly. Like you can, it's great that it has a second purpose, but it needs to accomplish its first purpose first.
