The New Real and the Mimesis of Media Studies
The book describes two modes of mimesis that have existed as definitions of the term since at least it's ancient Greek origins and still carry a significant weight in the humanities. One is representational copying the world and mimicry copying another copy as kind of intention with each other. The third form which I'm calling the new real, pushes towards hyper mediation or hyper media scene. And this gets at the last bit of your question, which I think what was moving towards the question of hyper mediation.
