The History of Sanctuaries
In the 8th century BC, sanctuaries became more visible and important in Greece. Sanctuaries were places where people came to offer sacrifices for a deity or celebrate festivals. The growth of sanctuaries happened at exactly the same time as cities came into existence. In these urban spaces, leading people began to hone traditions of political thought and philosophy that would shape the world to come.
