The Power of Criticism

I don't think I had as strong feelings either way as I do now. The word of mouth effect is still remarkably powerful. It's a useful tool for the reader on the most basic level, which is saying we've sifted through all of this year's great books and here's our selection. And actually it's quite difficult even to recall who were the winners of the Turner Prizes in the last few years because they're sort of people that we don't know about.
