When I first had an opinion that was against the grain about whether or not black English and all of its glory should be used as a teaching tool. My dissertation advisor, John Rickford gave me the wisdom, and it was wisdom. He said, they don't care what you know until they know that you care. And maybe in the grand scheme of things he could, there's an aspect of him who might seem to have more fellow feeling with them than with Jewish people.
