The Birth of a Newborn
The newborn does not lose mommy when the second cut of the umbilical cord occurs. What they lose is the anatomical complement that they've known up to that point as the placenta. Unborn fetus is yawn, but their lungs are full of goop. Something about the palpitus pulsing walls of the birth canal in addition to chemicals released, my understanding from the newborn actually forces all that gunk out.
