Is There a Balance Between Fulfillment and Ambition?

How in the world do you find a balance between fulfillment and ambition? It's interesting because I'm not sure if they're on the same scale in a way. Maybe they're both kind of the wrong goal because they're transient things. And instead, it's about sort of detaching about from landing anywhere...I talk about this idea of drive instead of ambition because drive, it's active and there's a sense of movement.
