Joshua Matsur: In Romans 8, if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. He says in this model, Jesus shares the pains and suffering of his people who likewise are transformed by sharing in some way what Jesus experienced. This model is particularly important for explaining the role of ordinances such as baptism in conveying the grace of Christ.
