Gildas's Ambrosius Aurelianus
London seems to have been abandoned after the Romans leave, a big Roman villa. All those Roman villas fall into disuse in post-Roman period. Ambrosius Aurelianus emerges as figure who has this Roman heritage that is highlighted. He fights a battle against Saxons at Mount Baden and it's portrayed as a dramatic victory. Gildas praises him as a military genius who inflicts crushing defeat on the enemy.
