The Right Left Political Spectrum Is a Species of Political Differences
The right left political spectrum is just under the control of one kind of very powerful developmental process. There's all these kind of random elements that don't fit into any particularly logically consistent framework. We can imagine people being militantly egalitarian but also horribly averse to risk novelty and change so there's really no logically inevitable reason for these baseline perceptual orientations to be clustered the way they are. The hypothesis predicts co-variation of perceptions of hierarchy and inequality and perceptions of tradition versus change.
